Book This Session →Copilot Agents are custom AI assistants you build on top of Microsoft 365 Copilot to automate specific business processes, answer role-specific questions and connect to your organisation's own data. Unlike the default Copilot experience, agents can be scoped to a team, grounded in specific SharePoint content or line-of-business systems, and triggered inside the apps your people already use. They're ideal for HR helpdesks, IT support triage, onboarding assistants, sales playbook bots, policy lookup tools and any repetitive knowledge-work where the answer "already exists somewhere but no one can find it".
Copilot Notebooks sit alongside agents as the persistent research layer — structured workspaces inside the Copilot app where you aggregate multiple sources (files, meetings, emails, SharePoint sites) and query across all of them together, instead of losing useful output every time a chat ends. Together they address two of the biggest gaps in most Copilot deployments: valuable knowledge locked in fragmented sources, and research that has to be redone from scratch each time. Best suited to knowledge workers, project leads, analysts, HR, operations and Copilot adoption champions who want to push beyond basic prompting.

What Copilot agents are and how they differ from standard Copilot chat, plus the three flavours you'll encounter — Microsoft-built, organisational and user-created agents. We browse and search the Agent Store in the Copilot app, then cover installing, pinning and managing the agents you want close at hand.
Hands-on with Microsoft-built agents — Researcher, Analyst, Visual Creator, Writing Coach and others — using both starter prompts and free-form queries. We add agents to Teams group chats, run the Facilitator agent in meetings and use SharePoint agents to get answers scoped to a specific site's content.
Creating a custom SharePoint agent scoped to specific sites, libraries and files, then building from scratch with Agent Builder — name, instructions, starter prompts and knowledge sources including SharePoint sites, files, Teams chats and public website URLs. We test and refine before publishing, share the finished agent with your team and unpack how permissions work, since agents only surface content you already have access to.
What Copilot Notebooks are and why they beat a single chat conversation for sustained work. We create a Notebook, add knowledge sources — files, SharePoint sites, emails and meetings — and query across all of them with one natural-language prompt, iterating to build a deeper picture over time. A worked project-research example aggregates reports, decisions and status updates into one queryable workspace, which we then share with a colleague for collaborative knowledge work.
