It's where people go to start a prompt, browse AI-generated suggestions, search across their organisational knowledge, work with shared agents and kick off Pages for collaborative drafting, all in one place.
It's best suited to daily knowledge work: drafting, summarising, researching, preparing for meetings, pulling information out of long documents and quickly building first-pass deliverables. Every role benefits, but the biggest gains tend to land with knowledge workers, managers, executives, analysts and anyone spending significant time writing, reading or searching. What the Microsoft 365 Copilot App is and how it differs from Copilot embedded in individual apps, plus where to open it — web, desktop app, Teams, Outlook and mobile. We tour the interface across chat, the Pages library, Notebooks and agents, and build a clear mental model of Work vs. Web grounding: when Copilot uses your M365 data and when it reaches for the internet.
Writing effective prompts with the Goal, Context, Source and Expectation framework, then iterating and refining to improve results without starting over. We reference M365 files, people and meetings with the "/" ContextIQ menu and upload files directly into a conversation for analysis.
Turning good answers into lasting work with Copilot Pages — creating, editing and sharing persistent AI-generated documents, including co-authoring a Page with colleagues in real time. We then build a Copilot Notebook as a persistent workspace that aggregates files, meetings and emails, and query it to surface insights across multiple sources.
Making Copilot yours: viewing and managing conversation history, and using Copilot Memory to set personal instructions and manage saved preferences.
