It's best used for the high-frequency, small-but-repetitive tasks that eat up the working day: summarising meetings and email threads, drafting responses, turning Word docs into slides, analysing Excel data in plain English, and catching up on missed Teams chats. What Microsoft 365 Copilot is and how the same AI layer shows up across every M365 app your teams already use. We build a clear picture of how Copilot only ever accesses data you already have permission to see, what Enterprise Data Protection means and how your prompts are handled.
The anatomy of an effective prompt — Goal, Context, Source and Expectation — and how each part shapes the output you get back. We then practise iterating and refining through follow-up conversation, so a first draft becomes a great result without starting over.
Copilot in the authoring apps: drafting, rewriting and summarising in Word, plus asking questions about a document without reading it end to end. In Outlook we summarise long email threads, draft replies and use coaching on tone, and in PowerPoint we create presentations from a prompt or an existing document, refine slides and add speaker notes.
In Excel we analyse data, generate formulas and create charts using nothing but natural language. In Teams we cover live meeting summaries, action items and Intelligent Recap after meetings, along with summarising missed chat and channel threads and drafting replies.
Rounding out the ecosystem: summarising notes and generating task lists in OneNote, drafting and iterating collaboratively in Loop, generating and organising ideas in Whiteboard, and turning descriptions or meeting notes into organised tasks in Planner.
